S I S T E R S is a documentary told by one of ten, female friends whose friendship has lasted over five decades. The women all grew up in Brooklyn, NY and formed their friendships as children and adolescents. Who are these women and what has kept them friends is one of the questions examined by the producer, Beryl Benbow.

They later played for the Preservation Hall in New Orleans, on the riverboats with Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey. An excerpt, “...Billie Pierce and her five musical sisters—Ida, Mabel, Della, Sadie, and Edna—ended up playing blues and jazz in clubs along the Gulf Coast, in New Orleans, and abroad.

This documentary was produced for The 40th Anniversary of Urban Glass & The 20th Anniversary of the Bead Project founded by Annette Rose-Shapiro.

(The documentary about the Bead Project was produced by a BRIC trained community producer, Beryl Benbow.) It is not necessary but her title and work should have been in the first paragraph.)

Benbow was a candidate in (BRIC needs to have the full name at the begin and then you can say BRIC) Arts Media's Documentary Intensive program and a participant of the 2016 "Bead Project". She was inspired to produce the documentary about the "Bead Project" because she experienced a well put together, wonderfully creative and well orchestrated training program that instructed the process of flameworking glass into beads and jewelry. Benbow felt compelled to bring this wonderful program to the forefront in film media while celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Annette Rose-Shapiro hopes that more people will be made aware of this jewel in Brooklyn and that more people will be happy to donate to its cause.

Rosalind Pettiford's story, JOURNALING her WAY from being diagnosed with Uterine Cancer, treatment, recovery & life long ministry.

As stated by Denise Hinton, no one can tell your story better than you. Rosalind Pettiford's journey through cancer is a testament of her faith, encouragement and victory to all women going through cancer. We are blessed so that we can bless others. I am positive Rosalind's journey will inspire many.

Creative Force is the name of my podcast. It is a conversational podcast between me and one or more guests. Primarily, I have artists from varying genres, we discuss their art, past and upcoming shows, books, and presentations.

Some of my guests and shows are produced as the request of an organization, who is having an upcoming event, promoting a cause (i.e. Autism Month)

Since, the onset of Covid-19 quarantine in the Spring of 2020; I have missed

being able to work out of BRIC Arts Media TV, Podcast and Editing studio. I am

focused on preparing a workable application to continue my podcast show.

No Longer Empty Curatorial Lab.(NLE 2019)

We would like to invite you to our exhibition (after)care, which opens on Saturday, June 1st, from 12 to 5 pm at Kings County Hospital in East Flatbush. The exhibition will be on view through June 23rd, Wednesdays to Saturdays, 12 to 7 pm.

(after)care re-envisions a former emergency waiting room as a creative community space of remembrance, possibility, and celebration of care within and beyond hospital walls. We hope that you may share our exhibition widely with your communities!

About (after)care No Longer Empty Curatorial Lab (NLE Lab) is pleased to present (after)care, a site-responsive exhibition and series of programs in Room CG-95 at NYC Health+Hospitals/Kings County in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.

(after)care re-envisions a former emergency waiting room, a space often associated with anxiety and fear, as a site of remembrance, possibility, and celebration of radical care—both within and beyond hospital walls. The exhibition takes its name from the process of transitioning out of institutional medical care and back into one’s home and community. Looking beyond the constraints of traditional healthcare systems, the artists in (after)care expand definitions of care in the present, while memorializing the failures of the past and moving towards a more radical future.

(after)care features works by Pamella Allen, Bobby Anspach, Quinci Baker, Chloë Bass, Damien Davis, Diane Exavier, Kearra Amaya Gopee, Charlie Gross, Kathryn Ko, Taja Lindley, Jenny Polak, Malik Roberts, Sol Sax, Tattfoo Tan, Larry Weekes, and Ezra Wube.

Free, public programs throughout the course of the exhibition will focus on themes of mental health and accessibility, professional development for Flatbush artists, and exhibition tours provided by NLE Lab curators and Y.Ex.

Each Saturday of the exhibition, free, all ages art-making workshops will be led by Brooklyn-based artists — assisted by Y.Ex — and will include silk screening and zine-making.
